Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Over time, patients may notice fine lines appearing. This can be a result of facial expressions, genetic tendencies, sun exposure and lifestyle choices. Some patients will notice fine lines in their 20’s while others may not see fine lines or wrinkles forming until later in their 40’s. Much of that can be attributed to genetics but also sun avoidance and lifestyle choices, such as not smoking. Some people have naturally very dry skin, causing crepiness and fine lines to appear at a much younger age. People with oilier skin may notice deeper wrinkles and creases instead of fine lines.

There are several treatment options for fine lines and wrinkles. Botox and Dysport can reduce the appearance of “expression” lines, created by smiling, frowning, raising the brows and pursing the lips. Fillers can improve the appearance of deeper lines, such as the nasolabial folds (the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth), the lines above the upper lip formed by pursing the lips, and other areas. Additionally, skin treatments such as micro needling, IPL Photofacial and Resurfx can stimulate new collagen and improve overall skin texture.
